History
Café Helenka is located on the former Walking Gallery, on which strolled spa visitors drinking the mineral water. Gallery was built in the years 1857-58, along the eastern side of the square, between the Szalay arbor (later "House over the Thermal Springs") and "Upper Swiss" villa. Around 1960, the Gallery was expanded and cafe "Hania" was opened. In 1984, when the Mineral Water Bar adjacent to the cafe was closed, mineral water began to be distributed in a "Haneczka". Unfortunately, in 2002 the building was destroyed by a fire. For several years the ruins of the former Walking Gallery only evoked the memory of the old charm and function of the building.
The chance to rebuild appeared along with the decision of the Minister of Health from 2005 to reimburse the Mańkowski family, heirs of count Adam Stadnicki, goods and lands in the village. In 2006 the building was demolished and the process of rebuilding from losing its original charm and character has begun. Finally, in 2008 the reconstruction was completed and Café Helenka was opened.
